Non-Profit Status!

We did it!! We are now an official 501(c)(3) non-profit! Thank you guys so much. We truly couldn’t have done it without you.
Our tax-exempt status should be retroactive to our date of formation, so to everyone who donated to our first online crowdfunding campaign: your donation should be tax deductible! This also means that all future donations are tax-deductible as well. We’re so incredibly excited!
So what’s next for Kestrel Post? The Wildlife Center of Virginia is busy collecting feathers to send to their first shipment to the non-eagle feather repository! We’ll continue our efforts in spreading the word about our cause and will try to attend more powwows to raise awareness for the services that NEFR has to offer. We will continue our efforts in fundraising for postage, and we’ll be looking into applying for grants!
We’ll be sure to keep everyone informed about our progress. If you have any event recommendations that we should have a booth at, please let us know! We’re keeping a close eye out for potential powwows on the east coast for an awareness-based booth, but we’d certainly love to know of community events we could have a table at!
We’d love to collaborate with local groups, individuals, and organizations. Our awareness booths at Virginia Tech’s Spring Powwow was so beautifully successful, and we’d love to be present at more. Please let us know if you are in the area where a powwow might be taking place – we’d love assistance with manning our booths and are certainly open to ambassadors taking the lead for awareness events.

LWNEFR Awareness Campaign - Spring 2019 Powwow @ Virginia Tech
We hosted a booth to raise awareness on Saturday, April 6th for Liberty Wildlife’s Non-Eagle Feather Repository. What a wonderful outreach opportunity. A special thank you to Native@VT and everyone who helped coordinate and participated in this wonderful event. What an amazing opportunity!
First Crowdfunding Campaign
WE ARE SO EXCITED!! We teamed up with Start Some Good for our first Crowdfunding Campaign! It ran from April 6th-May 18th, and we were able to raise the initial capital to become a 501(c)(3) and get started! Stay tuned as we continue in our journey as a non-profit. We’ve only just begun!

Shipments
We've opened a FedEx account to create labels for wildlife facility partners. The Wildlife Center of Virginia's donations are currently being stored in preparation to send our first shipment. Liberty Wildlife was able to inform us about priority species to take precedence.
501(c)(3) Status
We did it! We're officially a 501(c)(3)! This means that not only will future donations be tax-deductible, but we'll also be eligible for grants. Thank you to everyone who donated to our initial campaign and made this possible!
